I took this fancy smancy sofa shape, which is completely feminine, and added a tartan plaid. This makes it a bit masculine as well as childlike and whimsical. This is Joseph. He is dressed for a party at Leighton house. He totally has the Jerry Seinfield puffy shirt on with the kilt. There is a little lace collar in the front as well. He was dressed so feminine, but was all boy with his play. He was roaring like a lion trying to scare us.
Everyone dresses so casual, yet fun and bright here, both old and young. I took this picture of the young ladies while we were taking cover from the rainstorm.
I'm trying to show how narrow the street is. It is called the shambles and dates back to medieval times. Each level of the buildings sticks out a little further until on the top level you could play pat-a-cake with your neighbor. While amblling along the Shambles, the showers caught us off guard
While in York, we visited the treasurers house. It was one of my favorite houses. The colors were rich and bright and the furniture was abundant. The main hall was fun. It was made to look medievil but Roman columns were on the first level because the house was built on an old Roman foundation from centuries ago.
Although you can't really see - there is a wedding taking place in the choir and main alter of York Minster. When the prayers were over and the deal sealed the choir and organ burst forth into vigorous song. I am enamoured of the choir and organ in the cavernous stone cathedrals. It shakes right through to your bones. I thought the Duke of York himself the groom. It was spiritual for me; and then the bride and groom cut out to the side aisle - this groom did'nt have a kilt, but a torquoise waistcoat bright tennis shoes. It was a spiffy example of true self-expression.
We saw three weddings in York. This one took place in the church across the street from York Minster. It was very formal and the guests were dressed fancy with hats and all. Cars are decorated elegantly for the newlywed couple; they put a lovely flower spray in the back window and some ribbons from the side windows to under the trunk. No oreos or shaving cream for the Britains. The groom and males in the wedding party are donning their kilts. The little flower girls are too adorable!
This was a great 3D city locater made of copper or brass. It really made you get "in touch" with the city. This sign actually allowed you to bring up the attraction you wanted to see and it would print a map out for you right on the spot.
York Minster is the largest cathedral in all of England. It also contains the most stained glass. The sheer vertical size of the walls and window panels was breathtaking.
